Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 May 2026
Short version: we collect the minimum we need to run Learn2DJ — your email for the waitlist or your account, payment details handled by our payment processor, and basic usage data so we can improve the product. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Who is responsible for your data
The Learn2DJ team is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at [email protected].
What we collect
- Waitlist email. The email you submit on the waitlist form, plus a tag (
l2dj) so we know which list you came from. - Account details. If you create an account or buy a licence: your email and a hashed password (or sign-in provider ID if you use a social sign-in).
- Purchase details. When you buy a licence, our payment processor handles the card details — we never see or store them. We do see and store the receipt: amount, currency, date, and a payment reference.
- In-app progress.Which lessons you've opened, your scores, and your settings — so the app can show your progress and remember where you left off.
- Standard server logs. IP address, user-agent, and timestamps for normal site operation, error tracking, and abuse prevention.
Why we use it
- To send you the emails you signed up for (waitlist, launch news, account emails).
- To deliver the product you paid for and remember your progress.
- To take payments and handle refunds.
- To keep the service running, fix bugs, and improve lessons based on aggregate usage.
- To meet our legal obligations (tax records, fraud prevention).
Who we share it with
We use a small number of third parties to actually run the service. They process your data on our behalf, only for the purposes we set out:
- EmailOctopus — stores waitlist and marketing email addresses and sends our emails.
- A payment processor (e.g. Stripe, Apple App Store, Google Play Billing depending on how you buy) — handles your purchase and any refunds.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — run the website, the app backend, and our error logs.
We do not sell or rent your data, and we don't share it with third parties for their own marketing. We may disclose data if a law, court order, or regulator legitimately requires it.
Where your data lives
Our providers may store data in the UK, the EU, or the US. Where data moves outside the UK or EEA, we rely on the safeguards each provider has in place (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).
How long we keep it
- Waitlist email: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Account & progress: while your account is active, and for a short period after closure in case you come back.
- Purchase records:kept for as long as we're required to under tax and accounting law (typically 6 years in the UK).
- Server logs: short rolling window, then deleted or aggregated.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses a minimal set of cookies needed to make it work, plus basic analytics so we can see which pages people land on. We don't use advertising cookies. If we add analytics that require your consent under UK/EU law, we'll ask first.
Your rights
If you're in the UK or EEA, you have rights under the UK GDPR / GDPR — including the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, object to certain uses, and ask for a copy in a portable format. You can:
- Unsubscribe from any marketing email using the link in the footer.
- Email [email protected] to ask for your data, correct it, or delete it.
- Complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you think we've mishandled your data.
Children
Learn2DJ is not aimed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal data, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, where the change is material, let account-holders know by email.
